Mission

Chapelwood United Methodist Church’s Job Encouragement Tools (JET) Ministry brings employment and training resources to those in job transition through counselors who provide job search and spiritual resources.   This “one on one” ministry is supported by a panel of job resource professionals and individual counselors. 

The JET Ministry for Chapelwood United Methodist Church is a referral source to connect job seekers with potential employment leads. All participants are encouraged to represent good faith efforts.  The provider of this service implies no guarantee of accuracy or availability from the job seeker or employer leads.

It is our genuine hope that our services will empower you and sustain you as you contemplate your path and make your choices. 

Support Services

Chapelwood has a group of volunteers that are available to support and assist job seekers in their job search. Each of these volunteers has extensive professional experience in the work place and an interest in providing moral support and assistance to those seeking a new position. A counselor can be made available upon request. Services are tailored to each individual situation and may include the following,

Goals and Objectives Review

The first step will be a review of the job seekers experience, accomplishments and job search objectives. This will establish a basis for review of an existing action plan or creation of a new plan, if appropriate.

Action Plan Review

If an action plan has already been prepared it will be reviewed for consistency with goals and objectives. This review will focus on the overall strategy and elements of the search including:

· Resume preparation and tailoring
· Identification of references
· Networking plan
· Interview preparation

Followup Support

Counselors will be available throughout the job search process to provide support, answer questions and review and evaluate progress as requested by the job seeker.
 
Training

Periodically Chapelwood offers training which may be useful to job seekers. These opportunities will be announced in advance.
